The famous cultural-historic sites on the territory of the Stara Zagora District are: the national park-museum Shipka, the temple-monument "Rozhdestvo Hristovo"/Jesus' birth/, the Kazanlak Monastery.

In the district are located the following natural landmark: the reserves "Sokolna"/Central Balkan/, "Elenova gora", the tended reserves "Kamenshtitza", "Leshnitza" and part of the famous Rose Valley.

The Stara Zagora District is famous for the manufacturing of wines. The most famous wineries in the region are Stara Zagora, Chirpan, Kazanlak, Oryahovitza and Svoboda.

On the territory of the district are located several spa resorts of local and national significance.
